Comfort
Psalm 139 1-18
1 O Lord,
You have searched me and known me. 2 You know when I sit down and when I
rise up; You understand my thought from afar. 3 You scrutinize my path and
my lying down, And are intimately acquainted with all my ways. 4 Even
before there is a word on my tongue, Behold, O
Lord, You know it all. 5 You
have enclosed me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me. 6 Such
knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is too high, I cannot attain to it. 7
Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? 8
If I ascend to heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You
are there. 9 If I take the wings of the dawn, If I dwell in the remotest
part of the sea, 10 Even there Your hand will lead me, And Your right hand
will lay hold of me. 11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will overwhelm me,
And the light around me will be night,” 12 Even the darkness is
not dark to You, And the night is as bright as the day. Darkness and light
are alike to You. 13 For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my
mother’s womb. 14 I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and
wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very
well. 15 My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And
skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth; 16 Your eyes have seen my
unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were
ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them. 17 How precious also
are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! 18 If I
should count them, they would outnumber the sand. When I awake, I am still
with You.
There is not pit so deep, that He is not
deeper still. Cory Ten Boom
2 Cor. 1:3-7 3 Blessed
be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and
God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will
be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with
which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5 For just as the sufferings of
Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through
Christ. 6 But if we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; or
if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which is effective in the
patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer; 7 and our
hope for you is firmly grounded, knowing that as you are sharers of our
sufferings, so also you are sharers of our comfort.
John 14:27
“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I
give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful
Promise
John 7:38
“He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being
will flow rivers of living water.’
Phil. 2:9-11 9 For this reason also, God highly exalted
Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, 10 so that at
the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on
earth and under the earth 11 and that every tongue will confess that Jesus
Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is
patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to
repentance.
Matthew
7:7-11 7 “Ask, and it will be given to
you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8“For
everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it
will be opened. 9 “Or what man is there among you who, when his son asks for
a loaf, will give him a stone? 10 “Or if he asks for a fish, he will not
give him a snake, will he? 11 “If you then, being evil, know how to give
good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven
give what is good to those who ask Him!
Rest
Matthew 11:28-30 28
“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. 29
“Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in
heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 “For My yoke is easy and
My burden is light.”
Security
When God is all
you have, then you will finally know that God is all you need. Rick Warren
2 Cor. 4: 7-10, 7 But we
have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of
the power will be of God and not from ourselves; 8 we are afflicted in
every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; 9 persecuted,
but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; 10 always carrying about
in the body the dying of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus also may be
manifested in our body.
Deut. 31: 8 “The
Lord is the one who goes ahead
of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not
fear or be dismayed.”
Ps. 91:1-2
1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of
the Almighty. 2 I will say to the
Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust.
Psa. 145:14 The
Lord sustains all who fall,
and raises up all who are bowed down.
Luke 12: 6-7 6 “Are not
five sparrows sold for two cents? Yet not one of them is forgotten before
God. 7 “Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear;
you are more valuable than many sparrows.
Psa. 68:19-20
19 Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burden, The God who is our
salvation. 20 God is to us a God of deliverances; and to God the Lord belong
escapes from death.
Romans 8:26-31 26 In the
same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray
as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too
deep for words; 27 and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the
Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of
God. 28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to
those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
29 For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to
the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many
brethren; 30 and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom
He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also
glorified. 31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who
is against us?
Ps. 18:1-2
1 “I love You, O Lord, my
strength.” 2 The Lord is my
rock and my fortress and my deliverer, My God, my rock, in whom I take
refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
Ps. 34: 7-8
7 The angel of the Lord
encamps around those who fear Him, and rescues them. 8 O taste
and see that the Lord is good;
How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!
Exodus 14:13-14 But
Moses said to the people, “Do not fear! Stand by and see the salvation of
the Lord which He will
accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you
will never see them again forever. 14 “The
Lord will fight for you while
you keep silent.”
Jeremiah.
32:27; “Behold, I am the
Lord, the God of all flesh; is
anything too difficult for Me?”
Luke 10:18-20 18 And He
said to them, “I was watching Satan fall from heaven like lightning. 19
“Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and
over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you. 20
“Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you,
but rejoice that your names are recorded in heaven.”
Romans 8:35-39 35 Who
will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or
persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 Just as it is
written, “For Your sake we are being put to death all day long; We were
considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” 37 But in all these things we
overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that
neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present,
nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other
created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in
Christ Jesus our Lord.
Is. 4: 26
Lift up your eyes on high and see who has created these stars, The One who
leads forth their host by number, He calls them all by name; Because of the
greatness of His might and the strength of His power, not one of them is
missing.
Ps. 71:1-6 1 In You, O
Lord, I have taken refuge; Let
me never be ashamed. 2 In Your righteousness deliver me and rescue me; For
You are my rock and my fortress. 4 Rescue me, O my God, out of the hand of
the wicked, out of the grasp of the wrongdoer and ruthless man, 5 for You
are my hope; O Lord God, You
are my confidence from my youth. 6 By You I have been sustained from my
birth; You are He who took me from my mother’s womb; My praise is
continually of You. Incline Your ear to me and save me.
John 14:27
“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I
give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.
John 14:1-3 1 “Do not
let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 “In My
Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have
told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. 3 “If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to
Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.
Matthew 6: 19-24 19 “Do
not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy,
and where thieves break in and steal. 20 “But store up for yourselves
treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves
do not break in or steal; 21 for where your treasure is, there your heart
will be also. 22 “The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is
clear, your whole body will be full of light. 23 “But if your eye
is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light that is
in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! 24 “No one can serve two
masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be
devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.
Is. 43:1-3 1 But now,
thus says the Lord, your
Creator, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel, “Do not fear, for I have
redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine! 2 “When
you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers,
they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be
scorched, nor will the flame burn you. 3 “For I am the
Lord your God, The Holy One of
Israel, your Savior.
John 4: 13 Jesus
answered and said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst
again; 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never
thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of
water springing up to eternal life.
John 8:34-36 34 Jesus
answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is the
slave of sin. 35 “The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son
does remain forever. 36 “So if the Son makes you free, you will be free
indeed.
John 14:9 Jesus said to
him, “Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me,
Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, ‘Show us
the Father’?
Romans 8: 1-4 1 Therefore
there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 For the
law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of
sin and of death. 3 For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through
the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and
as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 so that the
requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according
to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
