Comfort

Psalm 139  1-18   1   O Lord, You have searched me and known me. 2 You know when I sit down and when I rise up;  You understand my thought from afar.  3 You scrutinize my path and my lying down, And are intimately acquainted with all my ways.  4 Even before there is a word on my tongue, Behold, O Lord, You know it all.  5 You have enclosed me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me.  6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is too high, I cannot attain to it.  7 Where can I go from Your Spirit?  Or where can I flee from Your presence?  8 If I ascend to heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there.  9 If I take the wings of the dawn,  If I dwell in the remotest part of the sea,  10 Even there Your hand will lead me, And Your right hand will lay hold of me.  11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will overwhelm me,  And the light around me will be night,”  12            Even the darkness is not dark to You, And the night is as bright as the day. Darkness and light are alike to You.  13 For You formed my inward parts;  You wove me in my mother’s womb.  14 I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;  Wonderful are Your works,  And my soul knows it very well.  15 My frame was not hidden from You,  When I was made in secret,  And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth;  16 Your eyes have seen my unformed substance;  And in Your book were all written The days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them. 17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!  How vast is the sum of them!  18   If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand.  When I awake, I am still with You.

2 Cor. 1:3-7   3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5 For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ. 6 But if we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; or if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which is effective in the patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer;  7     and our hope for you is firmly grounded, knowing that as you are sharers of our sufferings, so also you are sharers of our comfort.

John 14:27  “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful 

Promise

John 7:38 “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’

Phil. 2:9-11 9 For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, 10  so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth 11 and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

2 Peter 3:9  The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

Matthew 7:7-11   7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8“For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 9 “Or what man is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a stone?  10 “Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he? 11 “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!

Rest

Matthew 11:28-30   28 “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. 29 “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30  “For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Security

Ps. 18:1-2   1 “I love You, O Lord, my strength.” 2 The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

 Ps. 34: 7-8  7 The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, and rescues them. 8            O taste and see that the Lord is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!

Is. 4: 26 Lift up your eyes on high and see who has created these stars, The One who leads forth their host by number, He calls them all by name; Because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power, not one of them is missing.

Matthew 6: 19-24  19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20  “But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; 21 for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. 22 “The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light.          23  “But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! 24 “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.

Is. 43:1-3   1 But now, thus says the Lord, your Creator, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel, “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine!            2  “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, nor will the flame burn you. 3 “For I am the Lord your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior.

John 4:  13 Jesus answered and said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again; 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.

John 8:34-36 34 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin. 35 “The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son does remain forever. 36  “So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.

John 14:9  Jesus said to him, “Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?

Romans 8: 1-4  1 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.  2  For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.  3 For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh,  4       so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
