Commitment
Romans 14:8 for if we live,
we live for the Lord, or if we die, we die for the Lord; therefore whether
we live or die, we are the Lord’s.
Matt.
16:24-26 24 Then Jesus said to His
disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and
take up his cross and follow Me. 25 “For whoever wishes to save his
life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. 26
“For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his
soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
The Law
Hebrews 10:1,4 1 For the
Law, since it has only a shadow of the good things to come and not the very
form of things, can never, by the same sacrifices which they offer
continually year by year, make perfect those who draw near. 4 For it is
impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
Matthew 5: 17-20
17 “Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not
come to abolish but to fulfill. 18 “For truly I say to you, until heaven
and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the
Law until all is accomplished. 19 “Whoever then annuls one of the least of
these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least
in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be
called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 “For I say to you that unless your
righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not
enter the kingdom of heaven.
Discipline
Hebrews 12:5-13 5 and you
have forgotten the exhortation which is addressed to you as sons, “My son,
do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, Nor faint when you are
reproved by Him; 6 For those whom the Lord loves He disciplines, And He
scourges every son whom He receives.” 7 It is for discipline that you
endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his
father does not discipline? 8 But if you are without discipline, of which
all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons.
9 Furthermore, we had earthly fathers to discipline us, and we respected
them; shall we not much rather be subject to the Father of spirits, and
live? 10 For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them,
but He disciplines us for our good, so that we may share His holiness. 11
All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to
those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit
of righteousness. 12 Therefore, strengthen the hands that are weak and the
knees that are feeble, 13 and make straight paths for your feet, so that the
limb which is lame may not be put out of joint, but rather be healed.
Pro 22: 15 15
Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; the rod of discipline will
remove it far from him.

29:1,2, 1 A man who hardens his neck after
much reproof will suddenly be broken beyond remedy 2 When the righteous
increase, the people rejoice, but when a wicked man rules, people groan.
Self control
Pro. 17:27
He who restrains his words has knowledge, and he who has a cool spirit is a
man of understanding.

16:32-33 32 He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty,
and he who rules his spirit, than he who captures a city. 33 The lot is cast
into the lap, But its every decision is from the
Lord.
Ephesians 4:26-27;29-32
26 Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger,
27 and do not give the devil an opportunity. 29 Let no unwholesome word
proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification
according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who
hear. 30 Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for
the day of redemption.31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and
clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. 32 Be kind
to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ
also has forgiven you.
