“Make the most out of what God has for you today and in the
future, and the least out of what you have done in the past, whether
good or bad.” Kent McClain
"He is no fool, who
gives up what he cannot keep, to gain what he cannot lose." Jim Elliot
Life is a rock quarry;
we leave behind the rocks that needed to be chiseled away anyway.
Make the most of today, and the least of yesterday.
When I am tempted to
complain about God’s lack of presence, I remind myself that
God has much more to
complain about in regard to my lack of presence in His life.
The tendency is to do
the urgent and not the important. What do you think God wants you to
do? How long did He wait to send His Son to save mankind?
Size does not determine
significance, look at the ear, how big is the stapes and anvil, yet they
allow you to hear.
Attitudes are contagious, is yours worth catching?
My goal is to please God and serve Him daily, not to seek joy,
pleasure, peace, or satisfaction. If these come by pleasing and serving
Him then so be it, if not, then so be it. (Kent McClain)
Never forget a favor, nor remember a wrong.
Fill your time with
spiritual endeavors, play the hand God has given you.
Many Christians want
the glory without the cross, the shining without the burning, the
coronation without the crucifixion (I have been crucified in Christ)
Defeat is not failure until you stop trying.
A ship in a harbor is safe, but that is not what it was made for.
Some of our traditional Christians are like cement, mixed up and
permanently set.
The man who walks with God always gets to His destination.
He that is mastered by Christ is the master of every circumstance.
What counts?
Phil. 3:7-9 7 But whatever
things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake
of Christ. 8 More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of
the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have
suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I
may gain Christ, 9 and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness
of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in
Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith.
When it’s over
Phil. 2:9-11 9 For this reason
also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is
above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus
every knee will bow, of
those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth 11 and that
every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God
the Father.
Control
Col. 3:8-10; 17 8 But now you
also, put them all aside: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive
speech from your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, since you laid
aside the old self with its evil practices, 10 and have put on the new
self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of
the One who created him—and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with
thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 Whatever you do in word or deed,
do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God
the Father.
Pursuit
Col. 3:1-3 1 Therefore if you
have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where
Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on the
things above, not on the things that are on earth. 3 For you have died
and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
Getting up again
Proverbs 24: 16-18 16 For a
righteous man falls seven times, and rises again, but the wicked stumble
in time of calamity. 17 Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, and do not
let your heart be glad when he stumbles; 18 or the
Lord will see it and be
displeased, and turn His anger away from him.
Being first
Matthew 23:11-12 11 “But the
greatest among you shall be your servant. 12 “Whoever exalts himself
shall be humbled; and whoever humbles himself shall be exalted.
Reward
Matt. 19:29-30 29 “And everyone
who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or
children or farms for My name’s sake, will receive many times as much,
and will inherit eternal life. 30 “But many who are first will be last;
and the last, first.
Our future
I John 3:22 Beloved, now we are
children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know
that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just
as He is.
Happenstance
Romans 8:28-30 28 And we know
that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love
God, to those who are called according to His purpose. 29For those whom
He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His
Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; 30 and these
whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also
justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.
Who needs help?
Luke 5: 31-32 31 And Jesus
answered and said to them, “It is not those who are well who need a
physician, but those who are sick. 32 “I have not come to call the
righteous but sinners to repentance.”
Your enemies
Matthew 5: 43-45 43 “You have
heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your
enemy.’ 44 “But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who
persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in
heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and
sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
Money
Matthew 6: 19-21 19 “Do not
store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy,
and where thieves break in and steal. 20 “But store up for yourselves
treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where
thieves do not break in or steal; 21 for where your treasure is, there
your heart will be also.
Sin
Matthew 6: 22-23 22 “The eye is
the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will
be full of light. 23 “But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be
full of darkness. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how
great is the darkness!
Worry
Matthew 6:24-32 24 “No one can
serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other,
or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God
and wealth. 25 “For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about
your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your
body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the
body more than clothing? 26 “Look at the birds of the air, that they
do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father
feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? 27 “And who of you
by being worried can add a single hour to his life? 28 “And why are you
worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they
do not toil nor do they spin, 29 yet I say to you that not even Solomon
in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. 30 “But if God so
clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is
thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little
faith! 31 “Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will
we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ 32 “For the Gentiles
eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you
need all these things.
Witnessing
Matthew 7:6-7 6 “Do not give what
is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they will
trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to
pieces.
Attitude
I Thess. 5:16-19 16 Rejoice
always; 17 pray without ceasing; 18 in everything give thanks; for this
is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 19 Do not quench the Spirit.
