Our works/Trials
While in prison in a Bedford jail, while
making shoe laces for his family, John Bunyon wrote Pilgrim’s Progress. Out
of our trials can come our greatest contributions for the Lord.
Loss/Encouragement
Ps. 34:15,17-19
15 The eyes of the Lord are
toward the righteous and His ears are open to their cry. 17 The righteous
cry, and the Lord hears and
delivers them out of all their troubles. 18 The
Lord is near to the
brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. 19 Many are the
afflictions of the righteous, but the
Lord delivers him out of them all.
Loss/Encouragement
Rev. 21:3-4 3 And I
heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the Tabernacle of God
is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people,
and God Himself will be among them, 4 and He will wipe away every tear from
their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be
any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.
Forgiveness
Matthew 5:22-23 23
“Therefore if you are presenting your offering at the altar, and there
remember that your brother has something against you, leave your offering
there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then
come and present your offering.
Faith
Luke 17:5-6 5 The
Apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!” 6 And the Lord said, “If
you had faith like a mustard seed, you would say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be
uprooted and be planted in the sea’; and it would obey you.
Criticism/Judgment
I Cor. 4: 5
Therefore do not go on passing judgment before the time, but wait until the
Lord comes who will both bring to light the things hidden in the darkness
and disclose the motives of men’s hearts; and then each man’s praise will
come to him from God.
Salvation
John 14:6
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes
to the Father but through Me
Prayer
Luke 6:12
It was at this time that He went off to the mountain to pray, and He spent
the whole night in prayer to God.
