Here is a passage of Scripture and a revised poem by Ralph Cushman, each have inspired me during times when I lost sight of God during the course of a particular day.
Let the morning bring me word of Your unfailing love Lord, for I put my confidence in You. Show me the way I should go. Psalm 143:8
I met God in the morning When the day was at its best, And His presence came like glory Of the sunrise in my breast.
All day long His Presence continued, All day long He stayed with me. We sailed in perfect calmness Over many a troubled sea.
Other ships were blown and battered, Other ships were sorely distressed. But the winds that seemed to drive them, Brought to me peace and rest.
Then I thought of other mornings, With keen remorse in mind. When I had loosed the moorings With His presence left behind.
I think I know the secret now, Learned from a resulting troubled way; I must seek God in the morning If I want Him through the day.
